Project 365 4/23/2009: Desperate Catch-Up Edition

Sorry Internets, it's been too long since I last posted any photos, so here are some fresh faces:

The first photo is of my little visitor, who was sleeping at the back of my yard two Sunday's ago:

The little booger came back this past weekend and ate some leftover grilled chicken from Chili's, and has since then moved in to the bushes in front of my house...mind you, I haven't helped things by feeding it cat food daily, but the poor little monkey needs to gain some weight.

Next up is a caterpillar shot, taken on Monday evening outside of Unnamed Kitty's home, the bushes next to my front walk. It sort of reminds me of life...a slow climb to the top, followed by the phrase "Now what?!" if you happen to reach it.

Project 365: Busy Bee

Okay, so I haven't felt like blogging much lately...things have been busy with work and with life...on top of new special projects being added to my plate at work, I've also been trying to steer the course of my life in a more positive, healthy direction (and also maybe buy a motorcycle along the way). But here's a photo to fill the Project 365 void anyway:



This is me and my friend Geoff hangin' out at our mutual compadres the Hernandez' home on Super Bowl Sunday. It's a tad old, and I was by no means looking my best, but it's all I've got for now. When there's more to post here, I'll be glad to...in the meantime, feast your eyes on the...erm, feast laid out before us. 'Twas a great night with great friends t'be sure, Cap'n.

Project 365: 1/20/2009: Duster

Here's my backyard this morning, lightly dusted. The snow was welcome, although it's funny because it shows me what a selfish shit I can be at times...the first thing I asked at work the other day was "If it snows, do we get a day off?". I suppose being alive, i.e., able to enjoy the snow was not enough for me...so this morning I woke up and took a few photos of our little snow day here in Lexington to help me appreciate more of the "little things" in life:

Project 365: 1/15/2009: Hard-Knock Life

Here you see my cat Danny Boy, lying on the living room floor in one of his most pitiful-looking positions, trying so hard to deal with the everyday struggles of being a cat...the sleep, the eating, the playing; the...sleep again, etc...



It's a rough life to be sure, Cap'n...but I think he'll manage. After all, with a rough average of 18 hours' sleep per day, I think we could all muster the stamina required to ask so much from so little a creature.

Danny Boy was rescued from the Greenwood Humane Society about 5 years ago, and he's been like my shadow ever since; sometimes to a fault: He loves to walk up behind you and trip you up while you're cooking. All the same, he's one of the most loyal creatures on earth, and even after I get pissed at him sometimes, he always comes back to show me love. Loyalty like that is something you can't buy.

Project 365: 1/12/2009: Shed Your Fears...get it? No?? Sigh...

Okay, the title royally fails, but this is the shed that I spent most of the weekend putting up. I was not alone, however, and that is where the real beauty of this little project comes to light:

1. I have an awesome family.
2. I have spectacular friends.

Not only did my Dad and Brother come down to bring this shed/help to assemble it, but my Mother and Grandparents came down as well. On top of that, Dan/Kenda/Ken/Austin all came out and pitched in, too...without my friends, I'm not sure we could've finished it this weekend, but we did. All that's left now is to wire up a light/receptacle in there and it's done. Dan and I will probably take care of that this week after work (beer required).

Overall, I really didn't expect much out of this weekend except some good ol' elbow grease, but I had a lot of fun and was still amazed by the fact that my friends would take so much time out of their weekends to come out and help. I am humbled; I am grateful.

Project 365: 1/8/2008

This is my youngest cat Addie Jane, or as I like to call her, Addie Pie...make no mistake, she is rotten to the core, and yesterday she was begging for some of my salmon. I try not to feed them from the table because Addie usually won't eat it once she gets a hold of it, and then Danny Boy runs over, wolfs it down, and then throws up. But yesterday she had the most pitiful look on her face, so I folded...and believe it or not, she ate it all.

Project 365 1-6-2009

So here's a shot of the sunset that I see when I'm lucky enough to get home in time to catch one:



That's my neighbor's tree and other neighbors' homes/sheds in the background...I wasn't so much interested in the sunset as I was the ambience of the entire scene...I never would've imagined I would end up living in such a peaceful neighborhood, much less could I have imagined half of the things I've ended up doing/becoming in these 26+ years.

Project 365 - All Aboard! (1-5-2008)

Okay, so the "Old Brad" would have chided such things as Project 365 as "Childish" and "Wasteful", but in these last few years I've come to appreciate the many wonderful "little" things in my life, so I thought I would share some photos myself. The goal of Project 365 is to take a picture and post it each day...not only will you have something to photographically represent your days, but also a healthy reminder of lessons learned and a good dose of those "little things" that keep you going. So, without further ado, here's photo 1 (a little late, but better late than never):




This is my desk at work, or as I like to call it, Mission Control. It's not much to look at, but this is probably the most organized you will ever see it. On that desk rests the hopes, dreams, and automation of a whole company (okay, so my boss shoulders a larger part of that load...you get the picture). This is where it all happens...or rather, this is where it's all supposed to happen without a hitch, and yet it doesn't...and that is why your I.T. department exists...to make it work [again].
